Thanksgiving Chocolates from Wockenfuss Candies

Thanksgiving ChocolatesSandwiched between two candy-packed holidays is another holiday known more for its tantalizing turkey and savory stuffing than its candy dishes: Thanksgiving. However, is a holiday really a holiday without chocolate? We didn’t think so. And who isn’t thankful for chocolate? So it’s time we revamp Thanksgiving and make it a day to truly be thankful for.

Simply add chocolate.

The History of Thanksgiving

The first Thanksgiving took place in November of 1621 when Plymouth colonists and Wampanoag Indians sat down together to share a meal in celebration of the Pilgrims’ first corn harvest. It was the start of a beautiful tradition. For the next several centuries, days of thanksgiving were celebrated throughout the colonies and states. However, Thanksgiving did not become a national holiday until 1862, when President Abraham Lincoln declared it such. Since that day, Thanksgiving has been celebrated each and every November.

Thanks Abe!

Fun Fact: Did you know the first Thanksgiving lasted three days? Now that is a holiday to be thankful for!
