How to Pair Champagne with Chocolate

Although spring and summer are often chosen for weddings, they can happen at any time of the year. One way to celebrate these occasions is to pair champagne with chocolate.

Champagne is a drink that is often reserved for a special celebration; one of those celebrations is a wedding. Although spring and summer are often chosen for weddings, they can happen at any time of the year. One way to celebrate these occasions is to pair champagne with chocolate. Let’s find out how.

A Sweeter Beverage

One idea is to experiment with sweeter tasting champagne. Look for champagnes that have the words demi-sec or doux on the labels; you can also use pink champagne or sparkling wines. Usually, an older vintage is better. In this case, since you want something that has an overall sweeter flavor, you should ignore the vintage and focus on the sugar content. Any champagne with a low residual sugar level is a good choice. After all, you don’t want to overpower the taste of the chocolate!

Using Chocolate Strawberries

Another idea is to play around with using chocolate strawberries. Chocolate and strawberries make for a delicious combination. Plus, they pair beautifully with pink champagne. The sweetness of the strawberries complements the chocolate and champagne incredibly well.

Using White Chocolate

White chocolate is creamier and sweeter than dark or milk chocolate. That’s because milk solids are used in the production of this kind of chocolate. You’ll need to look for a wine that has a light body or a medium one to avoid overpowering other flavors. When it comes to this type of chocolate, you should also keep in mind a few things. For example, find a wine with lower alcohol content and higher sugar content. This is so you can match and magnify the sweetness of the white chocolate. Just be careful not to go overboard with it!

Using Milk Chocolate

One last idea is to pair champagne with milk chocolate. Wine and chocolate make for a wonderful pairing and a magnificent gift. Milk chocolate is one of the most versatile types you can find anywhere in the world. Champagne and milk chocolate highlight each other’s flavors. Try it all with German chocolate cake or some sea salt caramels for a kick of flavor!
