Fudge is part of Baltimore’s food-based history! Before 1886, there wasn’t much to be said about fudge. At first, it was produced in a small grocery store local to Baltimore, and sold for about forty cents per pound. The original batches of fudge were incorrectly prepared caramels. That’s also how fudge got its name – it was invented by being “fudged”! Despite these humble beginnings, fudge has grown to be an American favorite in the decades since.
